About

Workshop, sanctuary, studio: sheds are all things to all people. From Walt Disney to Philip Pullman, Charles Dickens to William Blake, artists have used sheds as a space to create their finest work. ShedSpace celebrates the role of the humble garden shed in the creative industries, past and present.

Artists and Architectural Designers, Jeni Burnell and Patrick Stimpson from Space Program Ltd., are working with architectural students from Oxford Brookes University, and clients of the homelessness charity Crisis, to produce a full-size shed in the Old Fire Station’s gallery.

Explore the ever-changing installation and get involved with workshops in basket making, knitting, card design, jewellery making, architectural model making or woodcarving.

The exhibition will run 20 May - 2 July 2016. Watch this space to see how the project develops.
